About US
STEAMwerks is a community based organization started in 2018 to engage children and families in fun, educational activities that incorporate Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math (STEAM). 
MISSION
The mission of STEAMwerks is bring children, community and families together to learn, have fun, be creative and become inspired about  the possibilities of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) to change our world, solve problems and help us understand phenomena in our universe and on our planet.
VISION
The vision of STEAMwerks is to establish STEAM education through several avenues:
  • Pop Up Events-collaborative community events that bring together different organizations and individuals with something to share related to STEAM (June-astronomy and a star party, July-physics and engineering of bikes and a bike repair/swap extravaganza, August-science of s’mores and the STEAM behind cooking)
  • Mini-STEAMers-early childhood education outreach for pre-K through 1st grade
  • Science Buskers-look for us a community events like Lead Mountain Nights, Gold Camp Jubilee etc with fun activities led by volunteers
  • Kool Sci Klub- afterschool outreach for school age youth in partnership with the Lead Deadwood Boys and Girls Club
  • STEAM Night with the Lead Deadwood PTO (March 2018)
  • Robotics Club for youth grades 4-8
  • Teen Science Cafes-Scientists, Engineers and teens come together to talk about what they are researching, learning and wondering about
